Ed Fund Submits Testimony In Support of Extreme Risk Protective Orders in Massachusetts

Boston, MA (July 18, 2017)  — This morning, Adelyn Allchin, Public Health Analyst for the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence submitted testimony to the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Judiciary in support of H3081, an act establish Extreme Risk Protective Orders. The Extreme Risk Protective Order (ERPO) would prohibit  persons from possessing or purchasing firearms when a court finds that they are at substantial risk of harming themselves or others.

An excerpt of Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence Public Health Analyst Adelyn Allchin’s submitted testimony is below:

“As a Public Health Analyst for the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence and native of Framingham, Massachusetts, I am writing today in support of House Bill 3081 – An Act establishing Extreme Risk Protective Orders (ERPOs). This bill would prohibit a person who poses a significant danger of causing physical harm to themselves, the petitioner, or anyone else from having in his or her custody or control, owning, purchasing, possessing, or receiving any firearms or ammunition for a period of up to 1 year”
