Spencer Cantrell, Esq. is the Director of Federal Affairs at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) and the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (EFSGV). In this role, Spencer advocates for comprehensive federal gun violence prevention policy and coordinates with the state affairs team on key policies, particularly those relating to domestic violence. Spencer also serves as a member of the legal team, analyzing and drafting legislation and memorandum.
Prior to her role at CSGV/ EFSGV, Spencer served as the Legal & Advocacy Director at the Greater Washington Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse (JCADA), where she managed a team of attorneys and advocates to represent and assist survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. While at JCADA, Spencer also worked on policy at the state and local levels as it affected survivors.
Spencer has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in Women’s Studies & International Studies and her Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law. Spencer previously worked for a Hong Kong NGO supporting migrant domestic workers and was appointed by the County Executive to the Montgomery County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council. In her free time, Spencer enjoys baking, spinning and spending time with her family.
