Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence Executive Director Josh Horwitz issued the following statement:

Washington, DC (September 26, 2019) — “The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence was honored to support today’s ‘Community Responses to Gun Violence in our Cities’ hearing held by the House Judiciary Committee. We thank Chairman Nadler and members of the committee for holding this important discussion — the first ever congressional hearing dedicated to addressing gun violence in our cities.

“To stop the cycles of daily gun violence in impacted communities, particularly communities of color, Congress must address the underlying social and economic inequalities that fuel gun violence. Congress must also fund violence prevention efforts that provide culturally responsive trauma supports and authentically engage the communities impacted by daily gun violence.

“As discussions around gun violence prevention policies continue to take place, those who are impacted by devastating gun violence every single day can no longer be left behind. These communities need to be in the center of any efforts to make gun violence rare and abnormal. ”
