Speak For Safety: A Historic Campaign to Reduce Gun Violence in California

The Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) creates a mechanism for family members and household members to work with law enforcement to temporarily remove guns and prevent the purchase of new guns by individuals who pose a potential risk to themselves or others. Modeled after the success of domestic violence restraining orders that are in place in all 50 states, the GVRO has the potential to stop a crisis situation from occurring.



Consortium Researchers and Local Experts Convene at the Texas State Capitol

September 13, 2016

On September 7, 2016, the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (Ed Fund), in partnership with the Texas Gun Sense, convened a forum at the Texas State Capitol Building in Austin, Texas to discuss gun violence prevention policies. More than 50 individuals from various fields — including mental health, domestic violence prevention, law enforcement, and public policy attended.

On July 11, 2016, the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (Ed Fund), in partnership with the Oregon Alliance for Gun Safety and Americans for Responsible Solutions, convened a forum at the Salem Convention Center in Salem, Oregon to discuss gun violence prevention policies.

On May 23, 2016, the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence, in partnership with the Colorado Ceasefire and Mental Health Colorado, convened a forum at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
