Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (EFSGV). EFSGV will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of EFSGV. EFSGV will attempt to respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes. EFSGV will not accept individual gifts that are too restrictive in purpose. All final decisions on the restrictive nature of a gift, and its acceptance or refusal, shall be made by the Director of Development and the Executive Director.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

EFSGV will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisors to assist them in the process of making their donations.

EFSGV shall not act as an executor for a donor’s estate.

EFSGV will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the Director of Development and the Executive Director.

Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose.

EFSGV will not refund one-time unrestricted monetary donations whether such donations are made via check, cash, or online; modification of an online gift due to user error is at the discretion of the Director of Development. If the donor wishes to cancel a recurring donation, it is the responsibility of the donor to notify EFSGV in writing. EFSGV will refund recurring online gifts up to 60 days after the original donation; the first donation is non-refundable.

EFSGV will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting IRS substantiation requirements. It is the responsibility of the donor to notify EFSGV in writing if an acknowledgement and/or tax receipt is not received.

EFSGV respects donors’ privacy and will not knowingly distribute donors’ contact information to any outside entity or organization. EFSGV does not store or collect payment information from online gifts. EFSGV will respect donors wishing to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, EFSGV will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

EFSGV will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders’ fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to EFSGV.
